Hair Loss can speeds Up with Worry

When I started losing my hair at 28 years old, I thought that was it. I thought that within a year or 2 from that time I’d be completely bald or at least have a patchy top of the head. A bald headed bloke that I worked with told me that he began to worry as soon as he spotted a receding hairline, and did nothing but worry, worry, worry, every day after ‘that’ day. In under 6 months the only remaining hairs on his head were around the ears and top of his neckline. In hindsight, he is convinced that this persistent worry resulted in rapid hair loss.

He said that his behaviour changed and his self esteem took a tumble for the worse. He would skip events such as family weddings, parties, and general get-togethers no matter what the occasion. He went on to say that he thought he looked ugly, a freak even. It got him down so much that he eventually sought professional help for depression. His therapist put this guy on a program for self improvement and eventually he saw that he was not his hair and that hair on his head was only a tiny part of the whole man.

Today he’s happy and accepts himself for who he is and he said if nothing else I should do everything in my power to accept this perfectly normal and painless blading and get on with my life. I’m so glad we had that little chat because here I am almost 26 years later and I still have a full head of hair even though a bit thin around the crown, but there’s still hair there nevertheless.

You die if you worry and you die if you don’t. So why worry!
